Decisions to close schools are determined only after the district Severe Weather Team has consulted various authorities, including meteorologists with Hennepin County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service, law enforcement and transportation agencies and neighboring school districts.

Student absences are excused at the discretion of the superintendent during extreme weather conditions only, and must be called in by a parent or legal guardian.

Due to the complexity of student transportation, the district does not practice two-hour late starts.

Principals may decide to cancel after-school and/or evening activities on the basis of current or predicted weather conditions. In the event of a school closure due to severe winter weather - snow, ice or dangerous wind chills - students will continue to learn from 首页 with the district’s 电子学习计划. 

On E-learning days, teachers will share materials or activities students should complete for the day. 老师, administrators and other licensed 工作人员 are available to provide learning support to students. The specific purpose of E-learning days is to replace a no school day due to severe weather or building conditions. E-learning days also alleviate the need for makeup school days in June.
